Salesforce 2023 Spring Release Notes

Three times each year, Salesforce delivers new and innovative features through their Spring, Summer, and Winter releases. The Spring ’23 release is packed with new features and security measures to enhance your Salesforce experience. Below you will find a summary of the most important updates Sleek identified.

If you have any questions about this latest update, reach out to the Sleek team and we’ll be happy to help!

Multi-factor Authentication & Automatic Enablement

Over the course of 2023, Salesforce is automatically enabling multi-factor authentication (MFA) for direct logins to production orgs. MFA adds a layer of security to ensure your data is only available to those who have access to your organization. Authentication apps are quick and easy to set up for users. For orgs included in the first phase, the MFA Auto-Enablement Release Update is available in Winter ’23 and then takes effect with the Spring ’23 release. For orgs not included in phase one, the MFA release update will be included in a later release.

Enhanced Domains & Automatic Deployment

Enhanced domains are the latest version of My Domain that meets security and browser standards. This high-impact feature is still deployed for you in Spring ’23, but now you can postpone that automatic deployment to Summer ’23. You can disable enhanced domains until they’re enforced in Winter ’24.

In order to postpone the automatic deployment of enhanced domains until Summer ’23 for example, disable a My Domain setting before the org gets Spring ’23. In the Routing section of the My Domain Setup page, click Edit, then deselect Automatically deploy enhanced domains with Spring ’23, and save your changes. Repeat this step in each org where you want to postpone the deployment.

Organization-specific domain names set up in MyDomain are included in the URL that Salesforce hosts for your organization. Consistent domains improve user experience and adoption along with standardizing URLs for use in API calls and custom code.

Search Manager

Searching for data in your org with the search bar is now even more customizable. Search Manager allows you to configure searchable fields (including picklists) to quickly access the information you need. Make the most of your search with the Einstein Search Learning Map available in Salesforce Help. There are highlights for each section about how search works and how to personalize your results.

Dashboards

Make your dashboards more relevant and engaging with the addition of relative user filters, images and text widgets. For example, Opportunity Reports can be created with a single Opportunity Owner filter that personalizes the results for each member of the team. Images and text widgets can be added to explain charts, describe metrics and clarify tables with rich text to guide users through the data.

NPSP

For Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) users, Recurring Donations are available for adding to a batch of Elevate gifts. Batch processing is also improved with a streamlined processing icon update. Salesforce also fixed an issue with the elevate field bundle not loading into Gift Entry in sandbox and scratch orgs that have Enhanced Domains enabled.

Sleek has selected the above features to highlight as especially important to higher education and non-profit organizations using Salesforce. There’s a lot more contained in the Spring ’23 release that isn’t listed above. If you want to learn more check out the full release notes or get in touch with us!
